COURSE INTRODUCTION
This programme develops practical understanding of emergency generator-set construction, operation, maintenance and testing. Participants examine diesel engines, AC generators, batteries, charging systems, AVR, governors, starting systems, control requirements and preventive maintenance so they can support reliable standby-power performance. Practical examples and guided discussion help participants connect the subject to decisions and challenges in their own workplace.

- Governor and its role in maintaining the rpm of the engine
- Starter motor, its function and the preventive maintenance to be carried out
- AMF board, its components and the automatic operation
- Importance of engine support system (cooling, lubrication, starting and etc.)
- Maintenance of diesel engine (daily, weekly, monthly and yearly)
- Maintenance of generator (various components that need constant checking and maintenance)
- Importance of excitation system and the types available for AC generator
