COURSE INTRODUCTION

The rising electricity costs and increasing pressure to reduce operational expenses have made energy optimisation a critical priority. Among the highest energy consumers in industrial facilities are compressed air and centrifugal pump systems as both are essential yet often inefficient utilities that significantly impact the site’s total energy bill. Inefficiencies arising from poor operation, system design, leakage, and inadequate maintenance can lead to substantial energy losses and unplanned production costs. This 2-day training integrates the core theories, operational principles, and practical industrial insights of both compressed air systems and centrifugal pump systems to equip technical personnel with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to identify inefficiencies, improve reliability, and implement effective energy-saving measures across their facilities.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
- Explain the core concepts, terminology and working principles related to Compressed Air and Centrifugal Pumps Theory and Practice with Practical Insights on Energy Optimization.
- Apply structured methods and industry good practices for Air Compressor Basics, Air compressor Distribution System, and Measuring Efficiencies and Losses.
- Evaluate relevant energy & sustainability situations and identify risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Translate the learning into practical workplace actions and sound technical decisions.

COURSE OUTCOME

Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to:
- Assess relevant workplace situations using the concepts and methods covered in Compressed Air and Centrifugal Pumps Theory and Practice with Practical Insights on Energy Optimization.
- Select and apply appropriate tools, checks or controls for Air Compressor Basics, Air compressor Distribution System, and Measuring Efficiencies and Losses.
- Recommend actions that support energy performance, regulatory readiness and practical sustainability action.
- Communicate findings, improvement opportunities and next steps clearly to relevant stakeholders.

- Module 2: Air compressor Distribution System: Overview of good design; Sizing of various components; Identify opportunities for Energy savings
- Module 3: Measuring Efficiencies and Losses: Measure air compressor efficiency on site; Measure compressed air leak Loss %; Determine corrective actions
- Module 4: Pump Basics: Components of a pumping system; Measuring efficiency of the system; Implementing effective solutions
- Module 5: Pumping Distribution System
- Module 6: Maintenance of Pumping systems: Define the components of a pump; Understanding operational issues; Determine good maintenance actions
- Module 7: Site Visit to Air Compressor Vendor: Close up look at air compressor components; Understand how air compressors are overhauled activity 7 - OPEX reduction
- Module 8: Site Visit to Centrifugal Pump Vendor: Close up look at centrifugal pump components; Understand how pumps are overhauled
