COURSE INTRODUCTION

This two-day programme develops a practical understanding of low- and medium-voltage switchgear from safe switching rules and equipment selection through operation, maintenance, condition monitoring, testing and commissioning. Participants review AIS and GIS arrangements, grid-station applications, breaking and making duties, MCC and MV specifications, insulation choices and SF6 handling to support safer, more reliable electrical systems.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Participants will learn to:
- Apply electrical-safety principles and switching rules.
- Explain the theory and application of LV and MV switchgear.
- Compare AIS and GIS arrangements and recognise grid-station applications.
- Select switchgear and review MCC and MV specifications.
- Improve operation, maintenance and condition-monitoring practices.
- Understand installation, testing and commissioning requirements.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Electrical engineers, technicians, supervisors, competent persons, maintenance personnel and project or commissioning staff who work with LV, MV or HV switchgear and motor-control centres.
