A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO MEASUREMENT AND CALIBRATION

23 - 24 SEPTEMBER 2026

COURSE INTRODUCTION

This practical programme strengthens the measurement and calibration skills needed to maintain confidence in inspection, test and measuring equipment. Participants review measurement-system errors, traceability, uncertainty, calibration practice and laboratory controls, with hands-on emphasis on selecting and using measuring tools correctly. Practical examples and guided discussion help participants connect the subject to decisions and challenges in their own workplace.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate measurement-system capability in terms of bias, linearity, stability, repeatability and reproducibility.
- Plan and analyse Gage R&R studies using short, long and ANOVA methods.
- Select measurement points and equipment based on drawings, tolerances and product requirements.
- Calculate measurement uncertainty and develop a defensible uncertainty budget.
- Interpret calibration reports, traceability information and TAR/TUR values.
- Make equipment acceptance and calibration decisions based on measurement risk and intended use.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This programme is suitable for calibration and metrology personnel, quality engineers, laboratory staff, maintenance and process engineers, technicians, auditors and supervisors responsible for measurement-system capability, equipment calibration or the interpretation of calibration results.
