COURSE INTRODUCTION

This practical programme gives participants a structured, workplace-focused understanding of Electrical Safety and Protection. Key areas include Electrical terms used in relation to Electrical safety, Short circuits, and Short between live and neutral, with emphasis on safer work practices, more reliable systems and better technical troubleshooting. The programme connects key concepts with practical examples that participants can apply in their own workplace.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
- Explain the core concepts, terminology and working principles related to Electrical Safety and Protection.
- Apply structured methods and industry good practices for Electrical terms used in relation to Electrical safety, Short circuits, and Short between live and neutral.
- Evaluate relevant electrical & power situations and identify risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Translate the learning into practical workplace actions and sound technical decisions.

- Short circuits
- Short between live and neutral
- Short between live and earth
- Electrical terms used in relation to Electrical safety: Short circuits; Short between live and neutral; Short between live and earth
- Electrical hazards and risk, ways to minimize: Electrical Shock; Electrical Shock, when and how?; When does a person gets electric shock?
- Safety Procedures while working with electricity: Personal Electrical Safety; Wearing of appropriate protective equipment (gloves, helmets, rubber shoes etc.); Using of right tools for personnel safety
- AKTA Bekalan Elektrik 1990, Peraturan-peraturan Elektrik 1994 & MS IEC Regulations laws and regulations pertaining to electricity: Types of wiring used in Malaysia; Proper methods to be carried out in wiring; Types of cables to be used based on the loads
- Competent control: What is competent control?; Who is a competent person?; What a competent person should possess and his duties?
