COURSE INTRODUCTION
This 2-day course is designed for participants who need to use Microsoft Project 2019 in a working project environment. The focus is on practical schedule development and project control, starting from project setup and WBS development through to baseline approval, progress updating, delay analysis, look-ahead planning, and reporting.
Participants will learn how to translate scope and execution strategy into a logic-linked schedule, assign resources and costs, review schedule quality, save a reliable baseline, and maintain the schedule during project execution. The course is structured from basic to intermediate level, but the learning angle is deliberately planner-focused: every feature is connected to a planning decision, a control requirement, or a reporting output.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
- Explain the core concepts, terminology and working principles related to Project Planning and Control Using MS Project.
- Apply structured methods and industry good practices for Microsoft Project 2019 environment and project setup, Project calendars, work breakdown structures and task planning, and Activity logic, dependencies, lead, lag and milestones.
- Evaluate relevant project management situations and identify risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Translate the learning into practical workplace actions and sound technical decisions.
COURSE OUTCOME
Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to:
- Assess relevant workplace situations using the concepts and methods covered in Project Planning and Control Using MS Project.
- Select and apply appropriate tools, checks or controls for Microsoft Project 2019 environment and project setup, Project calendars, work breakdown structures and task planning, and Activity logic, dependencies, lead, lag and milestones.
- Recommend actions that support stronger planning, project control, communication and delivery decisions.
- Communicate findings, improvement opportunities and next steps clearly to relevant stakeholders.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This programme is suitable for planning engineers, project planners and controllers, scheduling coordinators, project managers, engineers, supervisors, contract and commercial personnel, maintenance teams and graduates entering project-based roles.
