COURSE INTRODUCTION
Reliable chilled-water systems depend on the coordinated performance of the airside, chilled-water, refrigeration, heat-rejection and control loops. This programme gives maintenance personnel a practical understanding of system configurations, chiller construction, compressor motor starters and operating considerations so they can inspect equipment, identify performance problems and support safer, more efficient maintenance of air-cooled and water-cooled systems.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of this programme, participants should be able to:
- Explain how the five principal HVAC system loops interact in a chilled-water installation.
- Differentiate direct-expansion, air-cooled, water-cooled and absorption-chiller arrangements.
- Compare primary-secondary, variable-primary-flow and low-flow system configurations.
- Identify key chiller components and their maintenance requirements.
- Interpret basic compressor-motor and starter information relevant to inspection and troubleshooting.
- Recognise operating conditions that can reduce system reliability and energy performance.
