Course Introduction
Pumps including piping are one of the most critical type of industrial systems which are widely misunderstood. Just as modern societies depend on transportation, one cannot imagine industrial plants without pumping system of one type or another.
Pumping systems have been widely used for centuries in transporting liquids. They are used in simple machinery e.g. cars to complex processing industries like food, oil & gas, power plants and even commercial buildings e.g. hotels, hospital.

Course Objectives
Participants will be able:
- To understand the theory aspects of pumps and associated piping systems.
- To provide an insight to better operation and maintenance of pumping systems.
- To troubleshoot pumping system problems and prevent their recurrence.
- To gain knowledge on how to improve the reliability of pumping systems.
- To set up pumps for maximum efficiency and to use life cycle costing for improving pumping system.
- To have a basic understanding of the specifications and standards related to pumps and piping.
- To understand the ancillary equipment of pumping systems e.g. couplings, drives, strainers, piping and valves.
